Rack House Newsletter Friday 8th November 2019
Our school councillors and Eco-warriors are responsible for this being our first paperless newsletter! The newsletters can now be found under our newsletter section on our website, Facebook, Eduly app and The Headteachers blog!
In a half term leading up to Christmas, with a general election on 12th December, I am sure that the environment will be mentioned by all parties, not just The Green Party! Our children are leading the way, by saving trees and ensuring we are more cost efficient!
The General Election
The General election will be held on Thursday 12th December 2019 and we have again been chosen to be a polling station. Due to this, the school will be closed to children for the day, however school will re-open on Friday 13th December for all children.
The Christmas Nativity Play
We were due to have the Christmas Nativity Plays on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December. Due to the General election, we will bring the plays forward by one day. The new timetable will be as follows;
Tuesday 10th December 9:30am
Wednesday 11th December 6pm.
The Christmas Fayre
Christmas is on the way and we have our Christmas Fayre on Friday 6th December from 3.15pm-5pm. We will have our usual stall, tombola, face-painting and numerous other stalls. If you wish to rent a stall, please speak to Mrs Kelly who will be happy to arrange for a small fee! As ever, we will have hot food for evening for sale with both hot and cold drinks. Please attend, you do not have to spend any money, the children will all be excited to show their parents around the stalls!
Own Clothes Day
On Thursday 21 November we will have an own clothes day. If your child would like to wear their own clothes we are asking for donations for the Tombola stall at the Christmas Fayre. We would like toys, unopened bottles, toiletries and chocolates etc or a donation of £1 per child (maximum of £2 per family). Also, if anyone has links to any local businesses that you think may be willing to donate raffle prizes, please can you ask them if they can help us.
The school is continuing to develop its’ attendance policy which we started last year. As a school it is vital that children attend regularly to develop their learning. We are actively promoting excellent attendance by giving rewards half-termly and annually to promote this as can be seen from our policy. Please ensure your children are in school on time to give them the most opportunity to enjoy their primary education and make as much progress as possible. Our school target is to obtain 96.5% attendance and we are currently way below this level! Any class with 100% attendance for the week will receive extra play and all attendance will be celebrated at assemblies.
Year 4 Swimming
Swimming lessons for our Year 4 children take place on a Tuesday so can you ensure children attend school with all items they need for this activity. As we are the last school of the day, we usually arrive back to school for 3.45pm on these days.
After School Club
Can I remind all parents that they should contact the school office if they wish their children to attend the club. Prices remain the same as last year and we hope you take advantage of this extra service.
Due to our expanding school, we are continuing to have staggered lunchtimes. This proved to be very successful last year and the children and staff are happy with the arrangements. The weekly menu is available on the school website. The option of a halal dinners continues to be available this school year. The cost of a school dinner is £2.20 per day (£11 per week). A selection of fruit is available at dinner times to encourage healthy eating!
Your child’s belongings
Please ensure that your child’s school bag, uniform items, PE kit, water bottle and lunch boxes etc. are labelled with child’s name and class. Every day there are lost items and this will help us to identify which children items belong to. Thank you for your support.
