Welcome back to one of our busiest half terms with Halloween night having just passed and Bonfire Night and Christmas to look forward to. All our children have been reminded not to go anywhere near fireworks and certainly not to go near ones which look extinguished! I hope you all have a happy and safe evening on Bonfire Night and enjoy yourselves.
We have our Christmas fayre coming up on 7th December where we know you will support the school and enjoy the evening.
The Nativity plays for our KS1 children will be held on 12th December at 9.30 am & 13th December at 6 pm and we will give you plenty of notice to get tickets and start the festivities!
Our red bins on the corridors are full of school clothing, which has been left by the children without any names on the items. If you have lost any clothing, please search through our red bins where there are many items which need picking up!
Healthy Schools Award
I am delighted to say that this week we were visited by The Healthy Schools team in Manchester to see what we do at Rack House. The school, led by Mrs Nilan and Mr Corbett received the prestigious Gold award from Manchester Council. We are only the second school in Manchester to receive this new award and we have been asked to present what we do at Rack House to the council as an exemplar of good practice. Well done to our children, parents and staff for working together to achieve such an excellent honour!
Thank you to those parents and carers who have already signed up to the new app, eduly. We hope you are enjoying receiving updates about your child’s work. Any feedback about the app to myself or Mrs Ward would be greatly appreciated.
If you haven’t already signed up to eduly, it’s not too late. Just download the app from the app store or google play and enter the school code 97755173. The school will then verify you.
We are running a garden club for our children and I have been asked to see if anyone has any gardening equipment e.g. spades, forks, rakes etc to be donated to school. The children will use these tools while learning about the joys and hard work of gardening!
In the mornings can we ask that you drop the children off at the school gate and if you need to speak to teachers, please do so at home time. If you wish to leave a message for teachers regarding your child, we will deliver the message as there will always be someone at the gate to pass the message on. We do not want parents in the school corridors as it is difficult to monitor and it is a safeguarding issue. Many thanks for your assistance in this matter.
Nursery and Reception
Nursery and reception would like to thank all parents for being so generous in giving old clothes, underwear, socks etc. I have been asked to ask parents if they have any children’s socks or underwear, please keep giving to the Nursery. We now have enough of the other clothing. Many thanks for your support and generosity.
After School Club
Can I remind all parents that they should contact the school office if they wish their children to attend the club. Prices remain the same as last year and we hope you take advantage of this extra service.
Due to our expanding school, we are continuing to have staggered lunchtimes. This proved to be very successful last year and the children and staff are happy with the arrangements. The weekly menu is available on the school website. The option of a halal dinner continues to be available this school year. The cost of a school dinner is £2.20 per day (£11 per week). A selection of fruit is available at dinner times to encourage healthy eating!
Your child’s belongings
Please ensure that your child’s school bag, uniform items, PE kit, water bottle and lunch boxes etc. are labelled with child’s name and class. Every day there are lost items and this will help us to identify which children items belong to. We place any items we find in the red bins in the corridor, if your child has lost anything, ask them to check these bins first. Thank you for your support.
