HeadteacherComments Off on Macmillan Coffee Morning/ Race for Life
We had our annual Macmillan Coffee morning on Friday 28th September, where parents and children bought cakes in support of The Macmillan Foundation we raised £144.25. The children, in the afternoon, took part in a run for the Race for Life and donated £1.00 to take part in it and we raised £205.84. I would like to thank all the people who donated to these worthy causes and let everyone know. Well done to all!
A reminder that we have our first Parent’s Evenings on Wednesday 17th October, so please keep this date in your diary. We are extending the time slots from 3.30pm -7pm on one night to ensure all parents can attend. It is important to keep dialogue between yourself and your child’s teacher so we can work together in partnership.
Parent Eduly App Meetings
Last year in Year 2 we trialled an app called eduly. This app allowed parents to keep in touch with the school by looking at their children’s work and communicating with the class teacher. As a result of this trial we have decided to roll out the apps to all year groups. We will be asking the parents of each year group to come into the school hall at 3.20pm on the following dates;
Monday 15th October – Nursery and reception Parents
Tuesday 16th October – Years 1 & 2 Parents
Wednesday 17th October – Years 3 & 4 Parents
Thursday 18th October – Years 5 & 6 Parents.
At this meeting we will show you how to install the app so you can speak directly to class teachers via your mobiles. Please remember therefore to bring your phones!
Nursery and Reception
Nursery and reception would appreciate any old clothes, underwear, socks etc as they are always needed for changes of clothing, mainly for the children! If you have any children’s clothing (including footwear), please send them in.
Can I remind all parents to make sure that they have the correct jumpers, pants, and jackets for their children. We have a quantity of clothing in the red bins along the corridors which may be your child’s. We also have some children who have had their clothing taken by others. If you have any clothing which is not your child’s, please return it to school.
Due to our expanding school, we are continuing to have staggered lunchtimes. This proved to be very successful last year and the children and staff are happy with the arrangements. The weekly menu is available on the school website. The option of a halal dinner continues to be available this school year. The cost of a school dinner is £2.20 per day (£11 per week). A selection of fruit is available at dinner times to encourage healthy eating!
Own clothes day
On Friday, 19th October, we will have own clothes day for the children. The children can wear their own clothes on these days for £1.00 per child, up to a maximum of £2.00 per family. This is an easy way of raising funds for the school by allowing children to wear what they like (within reason) for the day.
Your child’s belongings
Please ensure that your child’s school bag, uniform items, PE kit, water bottle and lunch boxes etc. are labelled with child’s name and class. Every day there are lost items and this will help us to identify which children items belong to. We place any items we find in the red bins in the corridor, if your child has lost anything, ask them to check these bins first. Thank you for your support.
