We have all made it to the end of a very strange half term! We have had to close 2 bubbles in school and Greater Manchester has now been placed into Tier 3 due to the pandemic. Parents Evenings could not take place and I hope you have all received your child’s report for their start to the school year.
We have one week off for half term and return on Monday 2nd November, I say this because parents have asked numerous questions about when children are due to return and how long half term is! We are sticking to the school calendar and we return with staggered start and finish times on Monday 2nd November.
I must say at this stage, that it appears there will be no Christmas performances this year due to the pandemic and the fact we are in Tier 3 for the foreseeable future. We will be celebrating Christmas in school and we will ensure the children still have festivities.
May I take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their full support this school year. We are living in strange times but education is so important to our children and we have all adapted to ensure the children can access a full education. Many thanks also for adapting to google classrooms for homework as this may be the way children access work if their year group has to close!
We are pleased to confirm that we are still planning to go ahead with all school trips which are of educational value to our children. The school always subsidises school trips (I know they are still expensive!) however it is important that our children continue to receive the full education they deserve.
Meals over Half Term
The government have decided that meal vouchers will no longer be given out when school is closed. I thought I would direct parents who may wish to, to look at the following shops who are providing food in our community;
St Aidan’s Centre, 230A Wythenshawe Road
The Biddiford centre, Biddiford Road
Wythenshawe Park Court Yard Café
Pizza & Waffle shack in The Civic Centre
Nasal Flu Vaccinations
This year’s nasal flu vaccinations will take place on Monday, 30th November for children from Reception up to Year Six. Please access the consent/decline forms using the link below by 6th November 2020. If you have any questions or queries please contact Intrahealth on 0333 358 3397.
It is important that children get to school on time so that we instil good attitudes to learning and ensure that all our children know that punctuality is very important in life.
All children with 100% attendance weekly will receive a raffle ticket and will be entered into our year group draw, where they may win a £10 WH Smith voucher. The more weeks you are in 100% of the time, the more chance you have of winning! Good luck.
Paid After School and Breakfast Club
After school and breakfast club are open as usual. Can I remind all parents that they should contact the school office if they wish their children to attend either club. Booking forms are available from the office or to download from the school website. Prices are £10 per child for the after school club and £2 per child for the breakfast club. We hope you take advantage of this extra service.
Your child’s belongings
Please ensure that your child’s school bag, uniform items, PE kit, water bottle and lunch boxes etc. are labelled with child’s name and class. Every day there are lost items and this will help us to identify which children items belong to. Thank you for your support.
